A way to counteract strongly rising #electricity costs in a sustainable way, which is discussed far too little at the moment, is the renewable energy community (EEG). In this, the participants set their own #energy prices and are thus independent of feed-in tariffs or the utility electricity price.

An EEG is composed of any number of electricity producers and consumers (#private individuals, #communities or #SMEs) and uses the grid operator's usual facilities to transfer electricity. Since last year, the renewable expansion law package is in force, which includes the trading of electricity, gas or heat within an EEG.

Trading of electricity is particularly interesting for SMEs, as the EEG can set its own electricity price:
